Preacher Holes Review CassidyPreacher 2. Holes Review Directed by Maja Vrvilo Written by Mark StegemannAfter the action packed, fast paced tone of the previous episodes its understandable that Holes took a slower turn this week even if it was somewhat frustrating to see that the momentum has stalled again. But this was an overall more effective episode than the last time that the show slowed down, with the series taking its time to explore the characters of Jesse, Cassidy and Tulip as they all pursued their various activities in New Orleans. And all the while, Eugenes worst fears are slowly being twisted, so hes starting to believe out of all of the people. Jesse who is to blame. Cassidy himself is wrestling with the dilemma about whether or not to turn his son Denis into a vampire. Denis desperately wants the eternal life and to be saved, but Cassidy realizes that being a vampire is no life for his son especially when Denis has already lived most of his. Ring chromosome 10r10is a rare disorder, with 14 cases reported in the literature, but only two with breakpoint determination by highresolution techniques. The flashbacks to Cassidys past helped add emotional depth to his character as Joseph Gilgun put in a fantastic performance as he tried everything, even asking Jesse to use Genesis, something that Jesse brushed off quickly by saying he wasnt sure it was meant to work like that. One of my favourite scenes from this week was the scene where he talked about immortality with Tulip, but of course Tulip was distracted dealing with problems of her own. Cassidy cant catch a break it seems, and it really showed us that no matter how hard he tries, he just cant achieve the role of becoming a good, reliable man. Somethings always there to make sure that he screws up at some point, but whilst that isnt for his benefit it certainly did work in favour of the audience as it seems whenever Cassidys at his lowest, he gets the best storylines. It was interesting to note that he hadnt actually become a vampire in 1. Overwhelmed with all of the choices Our fall TV review guide, updated weekly, will help you sort through the forgettable and land on the best. Son of Zorn is an American liveactionanimated sitcom television miniseries created by Reed Agnew and Eli Jorn. It aired on Fox from September 11, 2016, to. Denis, judging by his ability to walk in the sun, and this look into the past, even a brief one, really help flesh him out as a character beyond just someone who has a crush on Tulip. The show, dont tell approach is utilised here to great effect as well in that we dont actually see what happened between Denis and Cassidy to break down their relationship, or Cassidys transformation, but there are hints dropped here and there. Even if these hints are explored in more flashbacks in the future, something that Im not completely against, this direction really emphasised that Cassidys emotion heavy story was pretty much the best part of this weeks outing. After being dropped a hint as to what The Extrapolater was like a few episodes ago in hell we also got to explore what it was well and truly like this week with Eugene after he makes a mistake helping someone, buying into Hitlers comments that even now the people in command of Hell are aware that they have someone there who doesnt belong there, raising his hand will not necessarily gain him his freedom. Whether this is true or not depends on who you want to believe Hitler or hell itself, neither of which feel like trustworthy sources at all leaving Eugene in a very poor spot. Eugene himself isnt helping his case by insisting that hes the most evilest person in here, apart from of course, Hitler. Whilst this storyline does have the novelty of taking place in a mundane version of hell compared to what weve seen before in other shows, it doesnt quite fulfill all the potential that it could have done and is moving at a relatively slow pace. Were seemingly building up towards a collision course between Eugene and Jesse when Eugene is inevitably released or escapes from hell at some point in the future maybe next season if not this one will Jesses search for God somehow lead to the gates of hell being opened if this episode was anything to go by, but the show will have to do something to shake up the game to keep hell interesting. Jesses storyline was the third of the main three threads this week with Tulips side story not getting as much attention. His quest for God is slowing down, and maybe, like the slower paced episodes, is an intentional choice by the writers, but on the whole it works for the most part as it helps the audience get inside Jesses head and understand why hes so frustrated about not finding God anytime soon, we want Jesse to find him as much as Jesse does himself. But the New Orleans setting is kind of wearing thin at this point and the show is at its best when it is on the road, and hopefully the series progresses forward in the near future to fresher locations as the city hasnt quite been utilised as well as it could have been so far, feeling like the same storyline could take place exactly the same way if it had been set in places like New York or Chicago. We didnt necessarily have to go to New Orleans, but now that were there, Im hoping the show gives us a good reason to stay there. One scene that I did like was Jesse trying to find out the serial number on the gun that was used to kill the actor who played God. The employees quickly decided that it was Jesse who was trying to find out so he could cover up his own murder despite Jesses insistence otherwise, and they eventually believed him. They didnt seem suspicious or startled at all as Jesse reminded them that these events might appear out of context for some, but eventually Jesse was able to work out that whilst the serial number had been removed, there was a face in the background, giving him the next clue. Its also worth mentioning again that even though Tulip is still dealing with the PTSD effects of the Saint of Killers incident, its a mostly effective way of exploring her character and how shes affected by it in the long run. This is in part helped by the fantastic acting from Ruth Negga who really deserves a lot more attention for this show, especially as she is an Oscar nominated actress now for her role in Loving go check that out if you havent already seen it, its powerful stuff anchored by her terrific performance, and I feel like if more people were watching this her name would be floated around as a Dark Horse for an Emmy nomination. Week after week she excels as the character, and even though the storyline does feel a tad repetitive at times, its thanks to her character that this storyline feels watchable and engaging. On the whole, Holes was a flawed but promising episode of Preacher that dug into the characters and fleshed them out a bit. It still needs a bit of work but the show has displayed in the past that it is capable of bringing greatness to the table, and Im still really excited to see where the Hunt for God goes now. MOVIES Logan Lucky Review. After taking a four year hiatus from the world of feature films unless you count his work as cinematographer on Magic Mike XXX, Steven Soderbergh is back with another elaborate heist caper. But while Logan Lucky shares the same DNA as the Oceans trilogy which receives a tongue in cheek reference here Soderbergh has replaced the tailored suits with blue jeans and classic rock T shirts while supplanting the sounds of the casino floor with the roar of NASCAR engines. The result is basically the directors version of good ol boy entertainment like Smokey and the Bandit or The Dukes of Hazzard, and its a hell of a good time. A high school football star whose nagging leg injury prevented a pro career, Jimmy Logan Channing Tatum has spent most of his adult life working the type of jobs that require a hard hat and reflective vest. Hes currently in the midst of his most lucrative gig ever, filling in sinkholes below the Charlotte Motor Speedway before the racing season begins but when an anonymous human resources rep spots Jimmy limping to his truck, the bigwig decide his condition is too much of a liability, and hes dismissed before the job can be finished. His brother Clyde Adam Driver, a war veteran missing the lower half of his left arm, chalks Jimmys misfortune up to the family curse, but Jimmy has a plan to set things right again, and exact a little bit of retribution in the process. The scheme involves exploiting the Charlotte Motor Speedways pneumatic tube system, used to quickly send cash from the concession and merchandise stands into a central repository. Thanks to his time on the job, Jimmy knows where the tubes converge, but to pilfer the loot hell need someone with a background in demolition namely, Joe Bang Daniel Craig, a certified vault virtuoso currently serving time for a string of impressive bank robberies. With five months left on his sentence, Joe isnt exactly available on the date in question but Jimmys wild scheme not only includes springing his accomplice from the slammer, but returning him before anyone realizes hes gone. Logan Lucky is full of delightfully absurd ideas such as this, and despite the apparent bumbling nature of the crew which includes Jimmy and Clydes sister Riley Keough and two additional Bang brothers Brian Gleeson and Jack Quaid the heist is an unexpectedly intricate affair, especially as things begin to go wrong and the group is forced to improvise. The sheer complexity of the plan combined with the limited resources and intellect of folks at the helm requires a certain suspension of disbelief this is the kind of job that Danny Ocean would have found difficult to conceive, much less accomplish but the whole thing is so damn fun that we seldom mind the various implausibilities that crop up. The comedic chemistry between Tatum and Driver is off the charts, and its a shame the brothers dont spend more screentime together, because every one of their scenes is pure gold particularly when Clyde begrudgingly agrees to listen to his brothers plan for no other reason than the fact that Jimmy burned the bacon like I liked it. But with a tattooed torso, platinum blonde buzz cut and mischievous gleam in his eye not to mention a reedy Southern drawl Craig is the films true standout, playing wildly against type and obviously having an absolute blast doing it. That a guy named Joe Bang would be Logan Luckys most charismatic and endearing character is just one of the many surprises Soderbergh has up his sleeve here. With a leisurely pace and a running time that clocks in right at the two hour mark, the film could have been served by a bit of editing, and there are numerous opportunities where a few minutes could easily have been shaved off. Characters like a British energy drink creator Seth Mac. Farlane and a yoga obsessed driver making a comeback Sebastian Stan add nothing of value to the narrative, and their material is some of the scripts weakest although it should be said that overall, Rebecca Blunts screenplay is stellar. Theres also the curious decision to add Hilary Swank and Macon Blair as a pair of FBI agents during the third act, with roles that give them almost nothing to do. But even acknowledging those complaints, its difficult to find much fault in Logan Lucky when its so undeniably fun to experience. Soderbergh gently pokes fun at Southern culture the pre teen beauty pageants, the gossipy old women, the NASCAR craze and the barroom brawls without ever coming across as mean spirited, and he successfully blends his tried and true heist film blueprint with the world of pickup trucks and John Denver songs, resulting in one of the funniest and most purely enjoyable films of the year.
